Automatic coffeemakers with water filters

Melitta® Proaqua Accessory Before and After Preview

Hard water leads to unpleasant deposits that will impair the function of your automatic coffeemaker after a while and shorten its service life. And that is not all: did you know that the limescale produced from the water can have a negative effect on the flavour of your coffee? You will, of course, want to enjoy your automatic coffeemaker for a long time and not let anything spoil your coffee enjoyment. Regular descaling can help protect your high-quality appliance. It is even better though to prevent limescale deposits from forming in the first place – with the aid of a water filter. Therefore, all Melitta® automatic coffeemakers are used with a water filter system integrated into the water tank. In this way, you can always enjoy delicious aromatic coffee.

Melitta® Pro Aqua filter cartridges – water filters for Melitta® automatic coffeemakers

Our original Melitta® Pro Aqua filter cartridges were specially developed for all Melitta® automatic coffeemakers and are made from particularly high-quality materials. They filter the water using ion exchangers and activated charcoal. By combining these two filtering methods, limescale and harmful substances, for example, metals, heavy metals, pesticides and herbicides can be reduced particularly effectively: compared with conventional water filters the Melitta® Pro Aqua filter cartridges have a 50% better filtering performance* – right to the end!

What are the advantages of automatic coffeemakers with water filters?

A water filter for your automatic coffeemaker has several advantages: it ensures that the coffee tastes better, extends the service life of your appliance and saves frequent descaling.

✔ Better coffee flavour

Very hard water often has its own unpleasant taste that prevents the aromas of your coffee from developing properly. A water filter reliably removes flavour-changing particles that occur in the water – for maximum, unspoiled coffee enjoyment.

✔ Longer service life

Limescale deposits can impair the functions of your automatic coffeemaker and lead to corrosion damage. The deposited limescale impairs the heat transfer as it forms a kind of insulating layer. As a result, it takes longer to heat the water and energy efficiency is reduced. A water filter ensures that the limescale content of the water is reduced effectively and stubborn limescale deposits are not formed in the first place. In this way, we guarantee many years of enjoyment with your automatic coffeemaker.

✔ Less frequent descaling

In addition, using a water filter makes maintenance and care of your automatic coffeemaker easier. Since the filter reduces the limescale content of your water to a minimum, you will not need to descale your automatic coffeemaker so often. If you do not use a water filter, an interval of three to five weeks is recommended depending on how hard your tap water is. This can be reduced to a few times per year by using a filter. For some of our automatic coffeemakers, even descaling once per year is sufficient if you use the water filter.

Is a Melitta® automatic coffeemaker with water filter worth it for me?

Limescale forms in all households. Magnesium and calcium ions found in our tap water are responsible for this. When heated, they are deposited leaving a white residue on your appliances, including in your automatic coffeemaker. The harder the water, the more ions it contains and the faster limescale forms. This process cannot be prevented without water filters. It is therefore worthwhile using your Melitta® automatic coffeemaker with a water filter as you cannot influence the hardness of your tap water. In this way, limescale can be reduced in the long run as long as you change the water filter on a regular basis. We recommend changing it every two months or after 50 litres of filtered water whichever comes first.
